The Bible:

This Book contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of Salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers.

It’s doctrines are holy, it’s precepts are binding, its histories are true and it’s decisions are immutable.
Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe and practice it to be holy.

It contains light to direct you, food to support you and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s
compass, the soldier’s sword & the Christian’s character.

Here paradise is restored, heaven opened and the gates of hell disclosed.
Christ is the grand subject, our good it’s design and the
glory of God it’s end.

It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory and a river of
pleasure.

It is given to you in life, will be opened at the judgment and be remembered
Forever.

It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labour and condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

The way of the Cross ....

1. Previously I spoke about why we should follow the Way of the Cross and now I will continue on how to follow the Way of the Cross.

2. The Way of the Cross is contrary to the essence of our entire being because our entire being wants to walk in the flesh, we want to live according to our own opinions and do not want to crucify the old self. We don’t want to be humbled and don’t want to humble ourselves. We don’t want to be subjected to authority - even if it that of the Lord. We are constantly making excuses for ourselves and explaining to others that nothing is our fault. We often say: I did not mean it that way, it was a misunderstanding.

A further problem that we have, is that we want to control the Holy Spirit. We are not prepared to listen to the Holy Spirit – we want the Holy Spirit to listen to us. We are quick to run to the Lord, but when the Lord warns us repeatedly, we don’t take heed. Many of us are not even aware that the Lord is speaking to us or wishes to speak to us.
