Why should I have one?
Do you have a verse you can recall when you feel discouraged or angry? A verse that can comfort and calm you. A verse that can encourage you to stop looking at the current problem and look at the bigger picture?

When God was tempted, what did he do? He quoted scripture! Matthew 4. Shouldn’t you do that too when you feel you can’t carry on anymore? That is why it is so important to know your Bible.

I only realised as an adult how well I knew the Bible, because every time when I am in a difficult situation, or discouraged, certain verses would just come naturally to me. I then realised that that was the wonderful Christian songs I was taught throughout my childhood, which also made it so much easier for me to remember certain verses. Do not ever under estimate the power of scripture in song.

Today when you get discouraged, why not quote a Scripture from the Bible?

Salvation:
Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. Rom 10:13

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but by God’s mercy He has saves us. Tit 3:5

Temptation: God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. 1 Cor10:13

Anger: The anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. James1:20

Fear: Fear not, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed for I am your God. Is 41:10

A Life Verse: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding: In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths. Prov 3:5-6

Reassurance:
God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Psalms 46:1

With your help I can advance against a troop , with my God I can scale a wall. Psalm 18:29

And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't He more surely care for you? Matthew 6:30

Trials: All things work together for good for those who God love and pursue His purposes. Rom8:28

Wisdom: If you ever lack wisdom, ask God. He will grant it liberally. James 1:5

Why not look up a few verses of your own, and write it down.
